Short answer. Merch Jar and Gloriads are both rule tools you control, not managed services. Merch Jar has the deeper rule language and automates Sponsored Products only; Gloriads covers all four Amazon ad types, undoes any change in one click, and takes no percentage of your ad spend. At $5,000 of monthly ad spend, Gloriads costs $139 a month against $300 at Merch Jar ($199 if you pay Merch Jar for a year).

What is Merch Jar?

Merch Jar is Amazon PPC automation software from Madison, Wisconsin. It launched in 2021 for Merch by Amazon sellers, then opened to KDP authors and brands; in 2026 its home page addresses brands and agencies.

Its rules are called Segments: a filter written in its own language, V2 Logic, with variables, conditions and formulas, plus an action and a schedule. Smart Campaigns move search terms between linked campaigns, and bulk actions change up to 50,000 rows at once.

Its bet for 2026 is to bring your own AI: a read-and-write API and a Copilot, a set of skills for Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor. Its pricing page says it plainly: « Automation covers Sponsored Products campaigns today ».

How Merch Jar's pricing works in 2026

Merch Jar publishes its prices, and every plan has every feature. Standard costs $300 a month, or $199 a month paid for a year, and includes $7,500 of monthly ad spend; above it, Merch Jar adds 4% of the extra spend paid monthly, 3% paid yearly.

Premium costs $600 a month, or $399 paid yearly, includes $20,000 and adds 2% of the spend above it. Above $100,000 of monthly ad spend, Partner is priced on quote. The percentage is billed every month, even when the base is paid for a year. The trial lasts 14 days, with no card.

Gloriads' price follows your Amazon ad spend of the previous month, every marketplace and ad type included, with no percentage up to $100,000 a month (1% above). Every account starts with 14 days free and no card; a year costs 10 months, and you cancel in one click.

Why advertisers leave Merch Jar

Merch Jar has few public reviews: no G2 or Trustpilot page, and most talk happens in a private Facebook group. What comes back in public:

  • the price: $300 a month is a lot for a small account, and the percentage grows with the spend;
  • Sponsored Products only: Sponsored Brands has been announced for years and is still missing;
  • placement adjustments that are not in the app, only in its API;
  • a learning curve: « I attached my ads account and then thought, what do I do now? »;
  • automations that overlap: its older Smart Bids are still switched on by default for each new campaign it syncs.

How Gloriads works instead

Gloriads keeps your campaigns as they are. It reads your Amazon Ads account, and changes only what a rule you turned on says to change.

A rule is IF, AND, OR, NOT and ELSE IF on any metric and any time window, running every hour to every 3 months, with ceilings that keep it in bounds. It starts from a ready-made template or your own, and Test now shows every change it would make on your account before it acts.

Every change lands in Activity with its reason, and one click undoes it, or a whole run. Lists of keywords and ASINs that may never be negated protect your brand and author name. Gloriads covers Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display and Streaming TV, and copies campaigns to other marketplaces with their keywords translated.

How rules work

Where Merch Jar is better

Merch Jar's rule language goes further: variables, case conditions, formulas between metrics and any date range, and custom fields of your own on campaigns, ad groups, targets and ads that its rules can read. A Gloriads rule is built from boxes, not written as code.

Its target ACOS can be set down to a single target, and its KDP metrics blend a margin and read-through multipliers. Gloriads sets a target ACOS per marketplace and per campaign, and reads KENP pages and royalties in its rules.

Its API can write: campaigns, keywords, negatives, segments and bulk actions, for the AI assistant of your choice. Gloriads' API and MCP connector read your figures; every change goes through the app, with a preview.

What to switch off when you leave Merch Jar

Your campaigns, keywords and bids are in your own Amazon Ads account: they stay, as they are, after Merch Jar, and Gloriads reads them at once.

Three automations of Merch Jar can keep changing bids until you stop them: your segments, Smart Campaigns, and Smart Bids, which Merch Jar still turns on by default for each new campaign it syncs. Switch off all three, then check Merch Jar's change history: nothing should move after that.

Merch Jar's terms promise no export. Download what you want to keep, such as your segments' text or your reports, while your subscription runs.

The honest answer

Which one should you pick?

Pick Gloriads if you

  • run Sponsored Brands, Display or Streaming TV as well as Sponsored Products
  • do not want to pay a percentage of your ad spend
  • want to undo any change in one click
  • advertise in several marketplaces and want to copy campaigns between them
  • prefer rules built from boxes to rules written as code

Stay with Merch Jar if you

  • write complex rules with variables and formulas
  • rely on custom fields every day
  • need an API that writes, for your own AI assistant
  • advertise on Sponsored Products only, and its price suits you

Switching

Leave Merch Jar without two tools fighting

Your campaigns are in your Amazon Ads account, so they stay. Four steps, in this order.

  1. Prepare Gloriads, every rule off

    Connect Amazon Ads: both tools can read your account at the same time. Set your target ACOS, pick the rules that match your segments and press Test now.

  2. Switch off Merch Jar's automations

    Turn off your segments, your Smart Campaigns and Smart Bids, which Merch Jar turns on by default for each new campaign it syncs.

  3. Check that nothing moves

    Read Merch Jar's change history for a day or two: once it is quiet, no tool is changing your bids but you.

  4. Turn your rules on, then cancel

    Turn on your Gloriads rules, follow their first changes in Activity, and cancel Merch Jar before its next billing date.

Gloriads does not import Merch Jar segments yet. Your campaigns, keywords and bids are at Amazon, so Gloriads reads them as they are, and its ready-made rules cover the usual segments: bids toward a target ACOS, negatives for searches that never sell, budgets for campaigns that run out.

FAQ

Questions about switching

Is Gloriads a good alternative to Merch Jar?

Yes, if you want to automate more than Sponsored Products or stop paying a percentage of your ad spend. Gloriads runs rules you read and test on Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display and Streaming TV, as often as every hour, and undoes any change in one click. Merch Jar remains stronger for rules written as code, custom fields and an API that writes.

How much does Merch Jar cost in 2026?

Merch Jar Standard costs $300 a month, or $199 a month paid yearly, with $7,500 of monthly ad spend included, then 4% of the spend above it (3% paid yearly). Premium costs $600 a month, or $399 paid yearly, with $20,000 included, then 2%. Above $100,000 of monthly ad spend, Partner is priced on quote.

Does Merch Jar support Sponsored Brands or Sponsored Display?

No. Merch Jar's pricing page says « Automation covers Sponsored Products campaigns today ». Gloriads creates, copies and automates Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display and Streaming TV.

Does Merch Jar charge a percentage of ad spend?

Yes, above the spend its plan includes: Standard adds 4% of the spend above $7,500 when paid monthly. Gloriads charges no percentage up to $100,000 of monthly ad spend; above it, its price is 1% of that spend.

Can Gloriads import my Merch Jar segments?

Not yet. Gloriads reads your campaigns, keywords and bids at Amazon as they are, so nothing is lost, and you rebuild your segments from ready-made rules: bids toward a target ACOS, negatives for searches that never sell, budgets for campaigns that run out. Test now shows what each rule would change before you turn it on.

What happens to my campaigns when I leave Merch Jar?

They stay in your Amazon Ads account, as they are, and keep spending until you change them. Switch off your segments, Smart Campaigns and Smart Bids first, so nothing in Merch Jar keeps changing your bids while you move.

Does Merch Jar have a free trial?

Yes: 14 days, with no card. Gloriads also starts with 14 days free and no card, so you can run both side by side before you choose.

Is Gloriads good for KDP authors and Merch on Demand sellers?

Yes. Gloriads reads KENP pages and royalties in its rules, protects your author or brand name with never-negate lists, and comes with ready-made negative keyword lists for books and for each Merch product type.
