What are the Amazon Sponsored Display ad specs?

Sponsored Display specs: a 50-character headline, a logo of 600×100 px or more, a 1200×628 px custom image, a 16:9 video. Every limit, with sources.

An Amazon Sponsored Display ad can carry a custom headline of up to 50 characters, a brand logo of at least 600×100 px, a custom image of at least 1200×628 px, and, for video ads, a 16:9 video in Full HD. All of them are optional for an image ad: without them, Amazon builds the ad from your product page. A campaign with any custom element holds 100 products at most.

Amazon's old Sponsored Display specs page now returns an error; the limits below come from its Ads API documentation and its help pages, checked in October 2026.

Headline

Up to 50 characters, not empty, no emojis, and no more than half of it in capital letters (this check is skipped for 10 characters or fewer). The characters < > # ^ ! are refused.

Logo and custom image

  • Logo: at least 600 px wide and 100 px tall, JPG or PNG, 1 MB at most.
  • Custom image: at least 1200×628 px, JPG, PNG or GIF, 5 MB at most. Amazon also uses a square version, cropped to at least 628×628 px.
  • What Amazon refuses in a custom image: product photos cut out on a plain background, a logo on its own, an image taken from your product page, added text (text on the packaging is fine), and black bars.

Video

  • 16:9, 1920×1080 or more, 500 MB at most.
  • Frame rate 23.976 (recommended), 24, 25 or 29.97 fps; video in H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4; audio in PCM or AAC, 192 kbps or more.
  • Length: keep it to 15 seconds. Amazon's ad policy page caps Display videos at 15 s, while its API accepts 6 to 45 s and recommends 6, 15, 20 or 30 s. At 15 s or less, a video fits both.
  • A video ad features one product. Headline and logo are optional.

Ad copy rules

  • Special characters only when part of the brand or slogan; no emojis or ASCII art.
  • A call to action under 30 characters (15 in Japan), with no punctuation.
  • Animations that pulse no longer than 3 seconds and never imitate a click; no flashing text, no jarring sounds.

Review

A campaign without custom elements goes live in 1 to 2 hours. With a headline, logo, image or video, the ad is reviewed first: usually within 24 hours, up to 3 business days. If a new custom element is refused, Amazon keeps serving the last approved one.
