What are the Amazon Streaming TV (Sponsored TV) video specs?

A 16:9 video of at least 1920x1080, up to 500 MB, 15 or 30 seconds, above 4 Mbps (15 for Prime Video), stereo at 192 kbps, with your logo shown 3 seconds.
An Amazon Streaming TV ad (formerly Sponsored TV) is a 16:9 video of at least 1920×1080 pixels, up to 500 MB, in H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4, with a constant frame rate, a bitrate above 4 Mbps (15 Mbps for Prime Video), and stereo sound at 192 kbps or more. Make it 15 or 30 seconds long, and show your brand name or logo for at least 3 seconds.
From Amazon's help pages and its official ad specs, checked in October 2026.
The specs
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Aspect ratio | 16:9 |
| Size | 1920×1080 or more |
| File | 500 MB at most |
| Video format | H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 |
| Frame rate | 23.976 (best), 24, 25 or 29.97, constant |
| Bitrate | Above 4 Mbps; 15 Mbps for Prime Video |
| Sound | 2 channels or more, 192 kbps or more |
| Sample rate | 44.1 or 48 kHz |
| Audio format | AAC (PCM also listed by the help) |
Export at 15 Mbps or more. Amazon's spec page says it maximizes where the ad can run: Prime Video needs 15 Mbps, and other services need 4 to 8 depending on the page. Amazon recommends 8 Mbps and rejects anything under 4.
How long should it be?
15 or 30 seconds is accepted everywhere. Amazon's pages give different lists:
| Source | Lengths |
|---|---|
| Help page on video assets | 15, 20 (Germany, UK) or 30 s |
| Spec page, Prime Video US | 15, 30, 45 or 60 s |
| Spec page, third-party apps | 6 to 90 s |
Longer videos (45 to 90 seconds) are offered on request, through an Amazon Ads representative.
What gets a video rejected
Amazon reviews every ad, usually within 24 hours (the whole set-up). These are refused:
- No brand name or logo, or a logo shown for less than 3 seconds.
- A format other than 16:9, or both side bars and top-and-bottom bars.
- A bitrate under 4 Mbps, a blurry picture, or text too small to read.
- Effects that look like a broken stream: a frozen frame, pixels, a glitch, a scratched sound.
- A static image instead of movement on most of the screen.
- A call to click such as "Shop now" or "Learn more": nobody clicks a TV.
- Another company's watermark, or flashes that could trigger seizures.
- Unclear sound, or noise over the message.
Amazon also asks you to avoid prices in the video (your price may change), and to keep a seasonal ad within its season.
What makes a better ad
Amazon's guides suggest:
- Your logo or product in the first 3 seconds.
- A 4-second end card that anchors the message.
- Sound on, and the product shown in use.
- No bars: Amazon's spec page strongly discourages them.
You do not need to add a QR code: Amazon adds interactive overlays itself, so viewers can scan to your product page or add to cart with the remote.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a vertical video?
No. Streaming TV requires 16:9. A vertical video would need bars on both sides, which Amazon discourages.
Can Amazon make the video for me?
Yes. The console can generate a video with AI, and Amazon's creative services can produce one on request.
Can one video serve Streaming TV and Sponsored Brands?
One file can meet both lists: a 1920×1080 H.264 MP4 of 15 or 30 seconds, without bars, with AAC stereo sound at 192 kbps, encoded at 15 Mbps or more. But a Sponsored Brands video plays muted, so its message must work without sound (Sponsored Brands video specs).
