Why are my Amazon Sponsored Products ads not showing?

No impressions on a Sponsored Products ad? The 7 usual causes: late data, a status, the lost Buy Box, an ineligible product, a low bid, narrow targeting.
An Amazon Sponsored Products ad that gets no impressions usually has one of seven causes: the data is not in yet, a campaign status stops it, the product does not hold the Featured Offer (the Buy Box), the product is not eligible, the bid is below the competition, the targeting is too narrow, or a negative keyword or a budget cap blocks it. Check them in this order: the first three explain most cases.
Checked against Amazon's help pages in October 2026.
1. Is the data just late?
Impressions and clicks can take up to 72 hours to appear for a new campaign. If the status says "Delivering", the ads are running even with no data yet.
2. What does the status say?
| Status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Out of budget | Raise the daily budget, the portfolio's budget cap, or your account's Sponsored Products daily cap. The status updates in 1 to 2 hours |
| Payment failure | Fix the payment method; every campaign pauses until then |
| Pending review | Book ads only: up to 3 business days. Amazon no longer emails the result for Sponsored Products book ads |
| Rejected | Edit the ad as asked, then resubmit it |
| Scheduled | The start date is in the future |
| Incomplete | The ad group has no keyword, product target or product |
| Paused | Turn it back on; check the end date has not passed |
| Archived | Final: copy the campaign to restart it |
3. Do you hold the Featured Offer?
Without the Featured Offer (the Buy Box), a Sponsored Products ad gets 0 impressions, even while the campaign says "Delivering".
- In Seller Central, check that the Add to Cart and Buy Now buttons show your name. Another seller's name means they hold it.
- Only the SKU holding the Featured Offer can serve. Add every SKU of the product to the campaign, so the ads continue whichever one wins. Impressions should come back within 24 to 48 hours.
- For a book advertised from an author account, Amazon itself must hold the Featured Offer, not a third-party seller.
- Stock counts: Amazon weighs availability when it picks the Featured Offer. Do Amazon Ads stop when you run out of stock?
4. Is the product eligible?
Only active, in-stock products can be advertised. Also excluded: suppressed listings (missing or wrong information), virtual bundles, and the parent of a product with variations (advertise the variations). Some categories have extra rules (alcohol, baby products, supplements and others).
5. Is the bid high enough?
Compare each bid with the suggested bid and its range, based on winning bids from the past 7 days. Below the range, you win few auctions. Clicks also get more expensive around Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and the "down only" strategy can lower your bid further. The bidding strategies.
6. Is the targeting too narrow?
- Few keywords, all in exact match: Amazon advises at least 25 keywords and starting in broad match. Match types.
- Product targets with little traffic: target more popular products, or categories.
- Restricted keywords (prescription drugs, offensive words) can be added but never serve.
7. Is something blocking it?
- A negative keyword that is too broad: one negative phrase can block many good searches. How negatives work.
- A cap above the campaign: a portfolio budget cap, or the account's Sponsored Products daily cap (sellers), stops every campaign under it.
- A budget gone by mid-morning: budgets are spent as clicks come, not spread over the day.
One change on Amazon's side: since July 1, 2026, Sponsored Products ads appear in fewer, more relevant places on US mobile product pages for fashion and apparel, so impressions there can be lower with nothing wrong.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I find my own ad when I search on Amazon?
Amazon says there is no guaranteed way to see your own ad running live: each search is a new auction. The impressions in your campaign manager are the measure that counts.
