Five Amazon ad types, from a sponsored search result to a TV screen, each paid per click or per 1,000 views and each topping up a stack of coins of a different height: what every Amazon ad type costs

Advertising on Amazon has no monthly or upfront fee: you pay only for the clicks or impressions your ads win in an auction, and never more than the maximum bid you set. In the US, the lowest bids and budgets are $0.02 a click and $1 a day for Sponsored Products and Display, $0.10 a click for Sponsored Brands, and a $20 daily budget for Streaming TV. Amazon DSP has no minimum in self-service, but $50,000 when Amazon's team runs it, and it is the only ad type that adds fees on top.

For sellers, vendors, KDP authors and agencies, from Amazon's help pages and product pages, checked in October 2026. Amounts are in US dollars.

Amazon advertising costs at a glance

Ad typeYou payMinimum (US)
Sponsored ProductsPer click$0.02 a click, $1 a day
Sponsored BrandsPer click, per 1,000 views, or a fixed price$0.10 a click, $1 a day; $3,000 to reserve
DisplayPer click or per 1,000 views$0.02 a click, $1 a day
Streaming TVPer 1,000 ads shown$20 a day
Amazon DSPPer 1,000 ads shown, plus feesNone; $50,000 if Amazon runs it

A "view" is a viewable impression: at least half the ad on screen for one second, or two seconds of a video. The minimums are the lowest bids and budgets Amazon accepts, not what it takes to get results: see how much to spend.

Is there a fee to advertise on Amazon?

No, not for sponsored ads. Amazon says Sponsored Products "have no monthly or upfront fees", and that Sponsored Brands has "no minimum spend for CPC or vCPM campaigns". What you pay is the media itself:

  • Your bid is a maximum. An auction decides the price of each click or impression. Relevance counts as much as the bid, and Amazon "will never charge you more than the maximum bid you authorize". Bid adjustments and dynamic bids can raise the bid you entered: count them in.
  • Sponsored ads charge no fees on top. Amazon's pricing guide says sponsored ads "do not charge any demand-side fees": no technology fee, no audience fee.
  • Amazon DSP is the exception. It adds a technology fee, audience fees and, when Amazon's team runs it, a 15% service fee (details below).

Taxes and a few regulatory fees can still appear on the invoice: see which.

What each ad type costs

New to the five ad types? What Amazon Ads is explains each one and who can use it.

  • Paid per click, never for impressions. Bids go from $0.02 to $1,000 a click in the US.
  • Daily budget from $1. It is an average over the month: a busy day can spend up to twice the budget, but a month never goes above budget × days ($10 a day is $300 at most in a 30-day month).
  • Amazon gives a suggested bid from the winning bids on similar ads over the last 7 days, for example $0.70 within a range of $0.40 to $1.40.

The campaign goal, chosen at creation and never changed, sets how you pay:

GoalYou payUS minimum bid
Drive page visitsPer click$0.10, $0.25 for a video
Grow brand impression sharePer 1,000 views$8, $12 for a video
Reserve share of voiceA fixed price, upfront$3,000 a campaign
  • Budget: daily from $1, or a lifetime budget from $100 with an end date.
  • Reserve share of voice buys the top of search for your brand's keywords at a price fixed before launch; once it starts, the keywords, dates and budget are locked (how it works).

Display

  • Paid per click with the "page visits" or "conversions" strategy, per 1,000 views with "reach".
  • US minimums: $0.02 a click, $1 per 1,000 views. Amazon warns that a minimum bid "may not lead to viewable impressions".
  • Daily budget from $1. Vendors are capped at $50,000 a day in the US and Canada (50,000 in the local currency in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain).

Streaming TV

  • Paid per 1,000 impressions (CPM), with a maximum average CPM per ad group.
  • No minimum spend, but a daily budget of at least $20 and a CPM bid of at least $10: what Amazon's API accepted on a US account when we tested it in October 2026.
  • Amazon advises $150 to $250 a day for new advertisers, and recommends $10,000 a campaign in self-service. Campaigns managed by Amazon start at $50,000.

Amazon DSP

Amazon DSP is now "Display, Video, and Audio campaigns" in Amazon Ads Agent. The bill is media + fees:

  • Media: impressions, per 1,000.
  • Technology fee: a percentage of the media cost, set per account and shown when you create the campaign. Amazon publishes no rate.
  • Audience and pre-bid fees: some audiences and third-party filters, per 1,000 impressions.

How much should you spend to start?

Amazon notes that "many advertisers start with a daily budget of $30" for a sponsored ads campaign, and advises $150 to $250 a day for a first Streaming TV campaign. It names no starting budget for Amazon DSP in self-service.

Your own number comes from what a click is worth to you:

  1. The most a click can cost = order value × conversion rate × target ACOS. A $25 product that sells on 10% of clicks, at a 30% target ACOS: $0.75 a click.
  2. The clicks a budget buys = daily budget ÷ cost per click. $30 a day at $0.75 is about 40 clicks a day, and $900 at most in a 30-day month.

The bid and max CPC calculator does step 1 and gives the bid to enter; the ACOS calculator tells you afterwards whether the ads pay.

Two things that change the bill:

  • A budget spends as fast as the clicks come. When it runs out, the ads stop until midnight. Amazon's suggested daily budget is the minimum to stay live all day.
  • Shopping events cost more. Clicks are usually pricier in the weeks before and during Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Taxes and fees on your Amazon Ads invoice

The campaign manager shows click costs only. The invoice can add:

  • VAT or GST. In countries that tax electronically supplied services, Amazon charges VAT or GST on your ads when you have not given it a valid VAT or GST number. Registered businesses add the number in their account and can ask for a refund. The Amazon Ads VAT calculator shows what it costs you, country by country.
  • US sales tax in Washington. Since October 1, 2025, a Washington billing address pays sales tax on Amazon ads (what US sellers pay).
  • A Regulatory Advertising Fee for ads served or bought in countries with a digital services tax, at most 3% in France, Italy and Spain, 2% in the UK, 5% in Austria and 4.5% in Turkey. It is "a service fee charged by Amazon, not a government tax", so no tax return gives it back.
  • Creator commissions, if you use Creator Connections.

It can also take away: invalid clicks are credited (Amazon checks each click for up to 72 hours), and promotional credits are deducted.

How Amazon bills you

Sponsored ads are charged each time your costs reach your credit limit, and at least once a month, on the second day of the next month. The limit rises after each successful payment: $50, then $150, $200, $350 and $500.

AccountCan pay with
SellerCard, seller account funds, or invoice
VendorCard, deduction from Amazon payments, or invoice
KDP authorCard or invoice
New Advertiser AccountInvoice only, sponsored ads included
  • Invoices are due within 30 days. Charges are in the marketplace's currency.
  • Amazon DSP sends one invoice a month, due within 30 days. DVA+ is invoice-only; Amazon plans credit cards for the first quarter of 2027.
  • A failed payment pauses your campaigns until the payment method works again, up to 24 hours after you fix it.
  • Several invoices on the same day are normal: each closes when it reaches the credit limit, and a new one opens.

Frequently asked questions

Does Amazon give free ad credits to new sellers?

Yes, sometimes. Under its New Seller Incentives, Amazon matches what a new Professional seller spends in the 30 days after a first Sponsored Products campaign, up to $1,000 in the US. The credits only pay for later ads, and the offer varies by marketplace.

Do KDP authors pay the same for Amazon ads?

Yes. KDP authors pay per click with the same minimums as sellers, by card or monthly invoice. They can run Sponsored Products, and Sponsored Brands with 3 books or more, but not Streaming TV (why).

Why is my Amazon Ads invoice different from my campaign spend?

Because the invoice adds taxes, regulatory fees and creator commissions, and removes invalid clicks and promotional credits. Clicks checked late can also move from one month's invoice to the next, while the campaign manager keeps them on their own day.
